Sublime Anguish
I hold my eyes, fixèd upon your face
Forever peering, seeking, only you.
When day is done and darkness ends the race,
I kiss the lips of one I know is true.
Your lips are wine, sweet wine which drips on mine.
While drinking deeply eyes will touch soft skin
And long to hold your body all in all;
If Love is sweet, this Sweet! It cannot sin!
But still I see the death inside your smile,
The way you grin and churn away the rest.
You want to hide the tears beneath your guile,
But I will take it all upon my chest.
Your pain is mine and all you fear is too
For I cannot believe in pain for you.
